CAROLINE TRETTINE
IN AN EXCITING NEW and yet also continuous new direction CAROLINE TRETTINE joins - or rejoins - the OUTERGLOBE.CO.UK world. Way back in 1990 my former company Half the Sky presented an International Women's Day event with several great women artists including Caroline Trettinem whose music I have always loved, so I am very pleased to be linking with Caroline again on a new venture as she launches her unusual album GAY DEMO ... which was recorded completely inside one day.
Caroline Trettine has a brilliant career with her solo singer/songwriter/performer works and having been part of the amazing Blue Aeroplanes. There's a deep honesty and at the same time a great storytelling strength in her songs that take you on an emotional yet abstract journey where you arrive enriched somewhere you didn't know before.
WEDNESDAY 19th NOVEMBER CAROLINE TRETTINE at HACKNEY ATTIC 270 Mare Street, Hackney, E8 1HE 7.30pm £5 for entry and a surprise treat .... Finely and wryly crafted songs and superlative guitar sharing all the 'rainbow colours' of gay life in a sequence of beguiling songs. Poetry set to open. More HERE

OUTERGLOBE UP!!D8 Autumn 2014
Greetings - it's been a minute - lots gone on .... catching up to bring you right up to the minute ...
Currently I work primarily with 2 artists - they both happen to be men, tho I do hope to bring forward at least one magnificent woman artist in the next season true to my passion of supporting Women in Music - tho of course every artist I work with has to be the right one regardless of gender - and I am delighted with the brilliance and professionalism of my chosen Outerglobe crew! Namely Juwon Ogungbe and Mosi Conde!
Firstly Coming UP!!:
Mosi Conde supports the great Malian Mandinka powerhouse AMI KOITA as part of the LIFEM - London International Festival of Exploratory Music on Thursday October 30th at Kings Place, London - You can find out more and buy your tickets HERE
Juwon Ogungbe is creating a unique score for a pioneer African silent movie - SILIVA THE ZULU which goes on tour during the early part of November. I will update you with the tour details very soon and the first date is Saturday November 1st at the Watershed, Bristol . Find out more and get your tickets HERE
Mosi Conde in action recently playing Kora with the Golden Voice of Guinea SEKOUBA BAMBINO as part of the London Festival of African Music. He also played Balafon in a fantastic concert which left us all with smiles on our faces! A mixture of hearty favourites and bold and beautiful new songs including 'Love' and 'Accusation' - an indictment of why Ebola is prevalent in so many African countries were performed in such a wonderful way. Mosi Conde played with true style and added some fine vibes showing what a master musician he is. In his own concert at St Thomas's Hospital lunchtime series recently he shared the deep meaning of his music prompting guitarist Kari (Alfred) Bannerman to say he is a master musician and philosopher....
Juwon Ogungbe also took part in the LAMF with a fabulous solo concert. He was interviewed recently by Alexander Mcclean about his particular and special music which crosses all known boundaries with African roots, Western Classical notations, Art music and funk with sheer musicality. Juwon has a clear view of how he wants his music to be and is very articulate developing it ... Listen to part of the interview on the Rockumentally site HERE
Juwon Ogungbe in action with Progress Ceremony which is now ready to tour ....

SUNDAY 11th MAY 2014
OUTERGLOBE'S JUWON OGUNGBE HAS A WHOLE EVENING AT VORTEX, 11 GILLETT SQUARE, DALSTON, LONDON N16 8AZ
On Sunday evening the
11th May the only
place to be is the Vortex, Gillett
Square, Dalston, London N16 8AZ for Juwon
Ogungbe & The Life Force Band. The
most recent time world acclaimed composer Juwon Ogungbe & Life Force Music played their African popera
tinged jazz funk at the Vortex it was standing room only and the appreciative audience was vociferous in
their request for encores.
Tickets are £12.50 and are available from the Vortex Box Office on 020 7254 4097 and online
via We Got Tickets .
Juwon Ogungbe‘s music
is a rich tapestry of so many strands as he draws in Western Classical, Art
Music, Yoruba cultural heritage and the Life Force of Funk, Jazz, Blues and
Latin beats topped with his mellifluous deep baritone voice. Juwon’s music is finely composed with scope
nevertheless for his widely experienced, supremely talented musicians to
contribute their own improvisations and special styles. There is always a narrative in his songs,
something he gives full range to in his music theatre productions as well and
so skilfully conveys in his opera roles.
The Vortex evening promises a feast of sounds to listen to and be seduced
into dancing to as well.
On Sunday 11th May the music presentation is
unusual . Juwon Ogungbe will be solo for the first part of the evening sharing
voice and piano in music that will be classic, classical, funky, jazzwise,
supremely vocal and African rooted. Then
the band will go full tilt in the second half. Between them Juwon Ogungbe’s musicians have
played with a festival ‘s worth of top artists. Each one brings unique elements
to The Life Force Band and together they make a tight and lyrical whole. Juwon
Ogungbe comes to this event hotfoot from University of Richmond, Virginia where
he composed music for ‘Threshold’ - a
musical inspired by one of Nigeria’s most intriguing writers, Amos Tutuola’s ‘Palm
Wine Drinkard’. His major current project is ‘Progress Ceremony’ – an artistic
exploration of his Yoruba roots placed in a simultaneously ancient and
futuristic context with a message of hope for our times. What influence will all
that have? The only way to find out is
to attend!

FRIDAY 23rd MAY 2014
MOSI CONDE KAIRA KORA AFRIKA - SOLO & BAND - EVENING @ GREEN NOTE, 106 PARKWAY, CAMDEN, NW1 7AN
Fast becoming a Green Note favourite, Guinean master Griot, Mosi Conde returns with an uplifting evening's entertainment. The first set will showcase Mosi's outstanding solo prowess and compositions with more revelations from his forthcoming solo album. The second set will raise the roof with Mosi Conde and his fabulous Kaira Kora Afrika full band.
Here is the ticket link on We Got Tickets
Immensely skilled and talented,Mosi Conde is from Guinea Conakry's
leading Griot family whose members are key to most of West Africa's
vital traditional and contemporary related music scene. Mory Kante is
amongst his closest maternal uncles and called Mosi to join him as part
of Baaba Maal's Africa Utopia finale concert at the Royal Festival Hall.
Lately he has expanded his repertoire and was part of the musically
challenging and innovative Love Supreme Re-envisioned Kings College
Chapel concert as well as being part of major Festivals including The
Shimmy and London African Music Festival.
Mosi Conde's compositions are steeped in tradition with a global sonic
awareness, growing from his fierce love and awareness of his original
culture and reflecting his strong involvement and commitment as a
Londoner. Master of every instrument he learnt as a young child, he is a
kora virtuoso, a searingly beautiful guitar player, vividly dextrous
balafonist, an intricate and dynamic djembe proponent and a mellifluous
singer. Whether solo or leading his matchless Kaira Kora Afrika crew
Mosi is an engaging and popular performer delivering crisp exciting
shows with the crowds more than willing to join in call and response and
dance. Equally the more meditational pieces hold an audience
spellbound.
Mosi Conde's debut album Kaira Kora Afrika garnered appreciative
reviews, widespread radio coverage including BBC R3, Resonance FM,
Colourful and international airplay. His second album is in progress and
will be launched mid year – maybe even at Green Note .. watch this
space.
“Utterly mesmorising and spellbinding, totally infectious! Truly great music” Rainlore’s World of Music;
“A mighty release ... great material, a pleasure to listen to” Russ Jones Hackney GlobeTrotter;
