In its 10th year, this laudable festival spreads across venues in Brixton, Hackney, Camden and Soho. At the Vortex you'll find Nigerian saxman Bukky Leo with his sprawling Black Egypt band (today), African Jazz Allstars guitarist Lucky Ranku with Jamaican bassist Gary Crosby and Cuba's Omar Puente (Mon), and the wonderful kora of Senegal's Diabel Cissokho (Tue).
The 10-nation, 10-man Master Drummers of Africa detonate the air at Stratford Circus (Wed), as will Mad Professor with his Dub Me Crazy Africa Band (Fri). That night, the Sudanese singer Amira Kheir with Senegalese band Minn Diarabi at the Ritzy, while next week will see Soundspecies with Gnawa musician Simo Lagnawi as Electric Jalaba at Hackney Attic; the Yoruba Women's Choir at Stratford Circus; and Afrobeat veteran Dele Sosimi bringing the festival to a joyous close at Hackney's New Empowering Church.
